Threshold has published a report which outlines the impact of its Cork Tenancy protection service today.

Thousands of people have been able to stay in their homes due to the scheme which has been in place for the past year.

Niall Horgan of Threshold explains how it works: "If a tenant has a rent increase that they can't afford and they are on rent supplement, we can fasttrack an application to the Department of Social Protection, for an enhanced payment.

"We also have a system where we can source alternative accomodation for tenants, and also we do a lot of negotiation with landlords and with receivers."
