Dubliner Ibrahim Halawa's trial postponed for 15th time

Ibrahim Halawa's trial has been postponed for the 15th time.

It is now due to take place on November 12th.

The Dubliner has now spent 38 months jail in Egypt and has yet to have his case heard in court.

His family say they are extremely concerned for his mental state and believe he has now entered a deep depression.

In recent months, Ibrahim has written letters describing his horrific living conditions: “It’s normal to be cursed, stripped naked, beaten with a bar, or put in solitary confinement or the “tank” (a pitch-black 3.5m x 5.5m cell).”

Ibrahim has now spent 1142 days in prison and Amnesty International has said they are "gravely concerned" for his physical and mental wellbeing.

Executive Director of Amnesty International Ireland Colm O’Gorman said: " We reiterate our call for his immediate and unconditional release and urge the Irish Government to continue their work on his behalf and to use every means at their disposal to secure his release."

A protest will be held against the ongoing unlawful imprisonment of Ibrahim Halawa from 5.30pm tomorrow, Monday October 3 at the Egyptian Embassy, 12 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
