There is a price hike on the way for Vhi customers
Vhi have announced a price rise for its customers that will take effect from November 1, 2016.
The health insurer will increase its prices by an average of 3% across a range of its plans, and the firm has blamed the rising cost of claims, particularly in public hospitals.
Declan Moran, Director of Marketing and Business Development, said: "The main reason for the price increase is the rising cost of claims and in particular the rising cost of claims in public hospitals.
"We are very aware of the financial pressures that continue to face our customers and have sought to keep the price increase as low as possible without compromising cover. We are constantly reviewing our health insurance plans to ensure they are comprehensive and relevant. "
The company also announced a half price offer for children on its 'One Plan Family' scheme.
Mr Moran said: "The offer is for those who renew or take out private health insurance between 1st November and 30th December 2016.
"We hope this will take some of the pressure off families."
