Irish citizen seriously hurt after fall from balcony in Spain

An Irish citizen is in serious condition in hospital after falling from a balcony in Spain.

The holidaymaker is reported to have suffered injuries in the incident in the Costa del Sol area of Marbella in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Local news outlet Sur said the 23-year-old man was hospitalised after suffering injuries to his face, head and knee.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the man's family.
