Woman dies following motorcycle collision in Sligo

A woman in her 50s has died in a crash in County Sligo.

The woman died when the motorcycle she was a passenger on collided with a car on the N16 Sligo to Manorhamilton road, near Drumkinsellagh at around 1pm this afternoon.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, and her body was removed to University Hospital Sligo.

The driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 50s, was also taken to hospital - his condition is understood to be serious.

The occupants of the car were uninjured.

The N16 near Drumkinsellagh has been closed, as Garda forensic collision investigators carry out an examination.
