There are unconfirmed reports that there is an Irish citizen critically injured in hospital, following the attack in Nice, France.

The French Ambassador Jean-Pierre Thébault has said international solidarity will ensure that terrorists are defeated: “I was yesterday and I am again today thanking the Irish for the strength of their support.

“Each act of solidarity is a denial to the terrorists.

“Each act of solidarity makes us all collectively stronger and makes the people of France stronger, to resist these attacks.
