Toddler dies after being hit by vehicle in driveway

A young child has died after being hit by a vehicle in Galway.

The boy, 21-months-old, was struck by a vehicle in the driveway of a house in the Carraroe area at approximately 3.47pm.

Emergency services responded to the scene and the boy was air lifted to University Hospital Galway where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

A post mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow and Garda enquiries are ongoing.

Forensic collision investigators have attended the scene to carry out an examination.
