Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man drowned in the Grand Canal at Portobello in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man drowned in the Grand Canal at Portobello in Dublin.

The man in his early 20s got into difficulty while swimming in the early hours of Saturday morning June 18.

He is described as being 5ft 8in in height - with black hair - he was wearing a black and blue shirt at the time.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the Portobello area between 4-4.45am last Saturday morning to contact them at Terenure station.
