Post mortem due on body found shot in Dublin; man and woman being questioned

Gardaí are continuing to question a man and woman arrested in connection with the murder of man in Dublin.

The man has been named locally as Neil Fitzgerald, who was in his 30s. His body was found at Hills Lane near Tallaght yesterday morning.

A post mortem examination will be carried out later today. Gardaí confirmed yesterday that he had "apparent gunshot injuries".

A number of bullet casings were found at the scene. However, gardaí have yet to locate the weapon.

The two people who have been arrested are both in their mid-20s. They are being detained at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda Stations respectively under Section 30, Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

It is reported he was shot up to six times in the head and upper body. He had recently been released from prison and had links to one of the gangs in the Crumlin-Drimnagh feud.

Gardaí are investigating whether his murder is connected to that feud.
