120,000 people have taken to the streets to bring Darkness into Light this morning.

Participants across Ireland and the globe have taken part in the predawn walk in aid of suicide prevention.

Now in its eighth year - the event is organised in aid of suicide and self-harm prevention charity, Pieta House.

Founder Joan Freeman has thanked all those who joined in this year's walk: “My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone who has taken part also to the people, the volunteers, who just were incredible.

“I just hope you took something out of it, that you healed a little bit, that you felt connected and that you were proud to be Irish.”
