The impact of today's High Court ruling on suspended sentences is not as serious as first believed, writes Daniel McConnell of the Irish Examiner.

Earlier today, the High Court declared unconstitiutional the law governing the power of the courts to activate suspended sentences.

<p> Volunteers attending the DMax 7.7 fitness event, in honour of Darragh McCarthy, who tragically passed away last year at just 21 years of age. The sold-out fitness event saw over 300 competitors take on DMax 7.7 featuring seven fitness stations, lasting seven minutes per station with a two minute transition between station. Competitors entered in teams of two and tested their strength, endurance and mental resilience across a series of challenges including rope skipping, ski-erg, medicine ball, assault bike, rowing, burpee box jumps and wall balls.
