A pipe bomb has been found overnight in Co Antrim.

More than 40 homes in Ballydonaghy Meadows, Crumlin, were evacuated in a security alert that began at about 9.30pm on Wednesday.

The operation ended during the early hours of Thursday morning as residents were allowed back to their homes and roads were reopened, the PSNI said.

Six families were given shelter in a nearby community centre while Army bomb disposal officers dealt with the pipe bomb.
