A jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a 20-year-old man in Co Kildare has been told it can return a majority verdict.

Zoltan Almasi denies beating Joseph Dunne with a baseball bat outside his house at Harbour View in Naas in May 2014.

He admits grabbing a bat and chasing a group of men down the street after seeing them hitting his van, however told Gardaí he didn’t strike anyone with it.

The jurors began their deliberations yesterday and have been told they may also consider the lesser charge of manslaughter.
