A new study has revealed higher than expected levels of gold in Irish rivers.

A new study has revealed higher than expected levels of gold in Irish rivers.

The Geological Survey of Ireland used the latest technology to examine grit samples from riverbeds around the country.

Both gold and platinum were found in the south east with relatively high levels detected in Wicklow and Wexford.

It is illegal to sell anything extracted from riverbed grit, however.
