Former Justice Minister Michael McDowell to run in Seanad elections

The former Justice Minister Michael McDowell has announced he is to run in the upcoming Seanad elections.

He campaigned against the abolition of the upper house in the 2013 referendum on the issue.

The former leader of the Progressive Democrats is to focus on the need to reform the Seanad.

He wants the election of Senators opened up to the entire electorate.
