Manhunt in south Dublin as two robberies take place

Latest: A man armed with a handgun held up staff at a Grocery store on St Enda's Drive in Rathfarnham at about 5pm this evening, while at Blackglen road, staff were threatened by a man wielding a knife in a shop there.

Update at 7.50pm: A man armed with a handgun held up staff at a grocery store on St Enda's Drive in Rathfarnham at about 5pm this evening, while at Blackglen road, staff were threatened by a man wielding a knife in a shop there.

Gardaí are investigating the possibility that the incidents are linked and are searching for the men involved.

The staff at both shops are said to be traumatised but weren't physically injured in the raids.

A manhunt has been launched following two robberies in south Dublin this evening.

The garda air support unit helicopter has been called in to search for those involved in the incidents in Rathfarnham.

One of the robberies was in a store in Rathfarnham village around 5pm. It is not yet known whether it and the other incident are connected.

As well as air support, a number of garda vehicles are on the ground assisting in the manhunt.

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.
