Dublin demonstration to raise awareness of starving Syrians taking place today
Five more people have died of starvation in the Syrian town of Madaya.
Médecins Sans Frontières is calling for medical evacuations for 18 patients at its clinic including a seven-month-old girl.
The news comes as a demonstration will take place in Dublin this afternoon in solidarity with the people of Syria
Madaya is one of the places under siege, hundreds of people have starved to death there while many thousands have died from malnutrition-related illnesses.
Valerie Fuze is from the Irish Syria Solidarity Movement; “Irish Syria Solidarity Movement members will be standing at the Bank of Ireland at 2pm to 4pm in Westmoreland Street, College Green to highlight the fact that it is not just Madaya that is under siege and living in such desperate conditions
“There are actually almost a million people in the same situation.”
