Barrister says Irish law may not cover Cork girl's images on porn site
A barrister who specialises in law surrounding online pornography, says Irish law may not cover the case of a young girl whose images have appeared on porn sites.
It's after a 19-year-old from Cork, called Katie, received rape threats after her photos were taken from Facebook and posted onto a porn site.
Although the images are not pornographic, comments made underneath them are being described as vile and are of a very graphic nature.
Fergal Crehan a barrister with the Hit Team.com, says technology has advanced faster than our legal system.
"This is someone putting up things about a person, but they're not necessarily in that persons space all the time keeping them awake at night, they're simply taking about them in the third person.
"So it's questionable as to whether harassment would actually apply, aside from that then I can't think of any other illegal activity here."
