Transition year students watch caesarean section via videolink. Some got queasy.

More than 180 transition year (TY) students have watched a caesarean section via videolink.

The event was part of the MiniMed programme, run by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

This morning’s lesson involved watching the surgery, performed by the Master of the Rotunda, Fergal Malone.

Some students confirmed afterwards they had felt a little queasy at times, "but it was definitely amazing to watch a caesarean section, a child being born".

The Dublin transition year MiniMed programme takes place in January of each year and the Waterford transition year MiniMed programme takes place in February of each year.
