A Garda spokesman has said that “computer nerds or people who won’t use common sense” are putting themselves in danger on Ireland’s flood-damaged roads.

He made the remark while urging motorists to stop using satellite navigation and GPS guidance systems on roads they have been diverted onto because of flooding.
