The Herald reports that €7.6m worth of goods was taken from unlocked cars or vehicles which had door locks broken over the past 12 months.
The latest Gardaí statistics also show that 25% of cars left parked outside Irish homes are unlocked and cars are most vulnerable in Dublin.
