Tánaiste calls for Special Criminal Court in cases where juries could be intimidated

The Tánaiste says that we have a need for the Special Criminal Court in cases where juries could be intimidated.

It's after Sinn Fein said this week that tax evader Thomas 'Slab' Murphy had been denied his rights because his case wasn't heard before a jury.

However the Tánaiste says that cases like Tom Murphy's should be held before a court like the Special Criminal Court.

"If you have criminal racketeering, if you have paramilitary past history, killed people, in court cases then you do need an institution such as the Special Criminal Court."
