Former Anglo official to appeal sentence for hiding accounts connected to Sean FitzPatrick

A former Anglo Irish Bank official will appeal the 18-month sentence handed down for trying to hide accounts connected to former Chief Executive Sean FitzPatrick today.

Aoife Maguire of Rothe Abbey, South Circular Road, Kilmainham in Dublin has been in jail for the past four months.

It was the prosecution’s case that she told Anglo’s IT department to delete several accounts and ensured one in the name of Sean Fitzpatrick's brother-in-law was not on a list handed over to Revenue.

She was jailed for 18 months in August but will try and have that sentence reduced when she appears before the Court of Appeal later this morning.
