Abandoned puppies rescued by ISPCA

Five puppies have been handed into the ISPCA in Mallow, after being discovered dumped in a box in a ditch.

The pups, thought to be 7-weeks-old, are being cared for at the ISPCA's Equine Rescue Centre in Mallow.

The puppies were infested with parasites and very dull and lethargic.

The ISPCA has said it is disgraceful that someone would abandon young defenceless puppies when they are so ill.

ISPCA Inspector Lisa O’Donovan said, “It is disgraceful that someone would abandon such young little defenceless puppies when they are so ill.

"Once again here we see what happens when the breeding of dogs is allowed by irresponsible, careless owners.

"To imagine someone cast them aside to die in a ditch is inhumane. We are hopeful that they will make a full recovery and will be available for adoption in the New Year."
