Ibrahim Halawa trial postponed yet again
Ibrahim Halawa will spend the Christmas period in an Egyptian jail cell after his 11th trial date was postponed.
The 20-year-old was arrested during an anti-government protest in Cairo two years ago and his case still has not been heard in a court of law.
He will now appear in court again on January 9.
Sinn Féin MEP Lynn Boylan was speaking to the Dubliner's family following this latest development.
“The reason they have been given for the postponement this time is that one of the witnesses that was called to testify wasn’t present in the courtroom,” said Boylan.
“It’s been postponed to 9th of January next year, so I suppose it’s another deep disappointment for the family.”
