Kildare hit-and-run victim dies in hospital

The Kildare County Councillor injured in a recent hit-and-run car crash has died in hospital.

Willie Crowley, 65, was struck by a car while crossing the road on Eyre Street in Newbridge on Tuesday night.

A 28-year-old Polish man appeared in court yesterday to face charges in connection with the incident.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Athy District Court next week.
