Dublin sees a doubling in the number of homeless children
The number of homeless children in Dublin has almost doubled in a year.
Figures due to be published by the Dublin Region Homeless Executive today, show that in the week between November 23 and 29, there were 1,466 children in emergency accommodation.
The Irish Times reports this is a 98% increase on November 2014.
In total, there were 705 families in emergency accommodation in Dublin at the end of November.
However, the figures show that there was a fall in the number of new families coming into homelessness last month, with 60 families being made homeless in November while 72 were made homeless in October, 70 in September, 78 in August and 70 in July.
