Dublin residents warned over raising Liffey levels
Residents in Chapelizod in Dublin are being warned to be on alert tonight as the River Liffey's water levels continue to rise.
Dublin City Council and local Gardaí are urging anyone with cars in underground car parks to move them to higher ground in the area.
The ESB is also expected to increase the flow of water through the Leixlip reservoir in the next couple of hours.
Engineer in charge Gerard O'Connell is “worried” for the Chapelizod area of the capital.
“We are a little worried about Chapelizod, the levels in the Liffey are raising,” said O’Connell.
“There’s the ESB dam at Leixlip, they’re releasing 38 cubic metres of water per second at the moment and they’re going to have to up that in the future.
“The combination of these is raising the water quite significantly.”
