Enda Kenny to open Dublin Rape Crisis Centre today
The Taoiseach will formally open the new home of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre today.
The building at 70 Lower Lesson Street in the heart of the city will be named McGonnell House in memory of a generous benefactor who donated the money to pay for it.
The centre was in danger of losing its home last year when the building it was renting was put up for sale.
However, the group has said the generous donation was a “dream come true” that allowed them to stay where they were.
The DCC has experienced a huge surge in demand for its counselling service since the publication of several high profile abuse reports, while at the same time struggling with cuts to its state funding during the recession.
