Nurse strikes to go ahead

Talks aimed at averting next week's strike action by nurses in emergency departments have broken down without agreement.

The ongoing row relates to overcrowding at emergency departments.

The talks between the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation and Health Service management were chaired by the Workplace Relations Commission.

The strike is due to go ahead on December 15 and further stoppages are planned for January 12 and 26.
