WIT students are hoping to set a festive world record today

Students from Waterford IT are aiming to set a new world record with a festive twist today.

They want to gather together the biggest number of people in one place wearing Christmas jumpers.

The current record is held by Loughborough University in the UK who managed to get a crowd of 1,175.

Lecturer Fergal O'Hanlon is helping organise today's challenge - he has said there are a few rules for contestants: “It has to be some sort of a Christmas jumper it can have a decative feel to it, it can have lights on it, it can have sound on it, it can have images on it,

“I suppose the crazier the better, I’ve seen one with bells on it, I seen one with Christmas pudding on it, one with raindeers on it, some with lights on it, it should be good fun anyway, we are all looking forward to it.”
