An emergency meeting is taking place at the French Embassy in Dublin this morning.

The response of the French community in Ireland to the terror attacks in Paris will be discussed by French Ambassador Jean-Pierre Thebault.

A black ribbon was tied to the French and European flags at the French Embassy in Merrion Square this morning.

Director of the Alliance Francaise in Dublin, Philippe Milloux, will be attending the meeting with Ambassador Thebault.

“The ambassador will meet us, all of the people in charge, at 10am today and we will have a strategy to really be able to give a response to what happened last night, which was an act of complete terror,” Mr Milloux said.

“It is just horrible.”

A Book of Condolence will open at the Pro Cathedral in Dublin in soldarity with the victims of last night's attacks in Paris.

Archbishop of Dublin Diarmuid Martin is leading a prayer service this morning.

He has called on people to join him in offering prayers for the victims today.

Vigils will be also held this afternoon in Dublin and Galway for the victims of last night's terrorist attack.

CBS news Corr based in Paris, Elaine Cobbe,has said it is still not known who carried out last night’s attacks.

She has said nobody has claimed responsibility.

“There were definitely several shooters in the Paris attacks and there are reports of at least two at the Stade de France.

“Chief prosecutor here believes that eight of the terrorists are dead, but there may be some at large.

“It is still an unfolding situation, nobody has yet claimed responsibility for this and the president has declared a state of emergency and deployed an extra 1500 military across Paris so the city is very much in a state of war today.”
