Minister Frances Fitzgerald concerned about investigation leak

The Minister for Justice has expressed her concern about the leaking information about a Garda investigation.

It follows a statement last night by former Minister Pat Carey, who said he'd read of allegations of abuse against him, in a national newspaper, rather than hearing about them from Gardaí.

He has denied all allegations, but stood down from various public roles and the Fianna Fáil party.

A Garda investigation has been launched in the leaking of information, Minister Frances Fitzgerald says both she and the Garda commissioner are concerned.

"Clearly the commissioner would be concerned about any inappropriate behaviour in terms of any investigations which are taking place and would be following up on that."
