Alan Kelly believes reforms will give certainty to renters
The Environment Minister says he is happy that a range of measures announced today will bring rent certainty to the market.
The changes will see a rent freeze for two years if your rent has increased already in 2015.
Other measures include a longer term of notice of increase of rent and new powers to hold deposits given to the PRTB.
Minister Alan Kelly says he believes the measures give certainty to renters.
"What we have here is a situation where rents are frozen for two years if somebody has had a rent review in 2015.
"I believe that the supply side is going to take a couple of years to come on and what we need to do is give a certainty to people who are renting and this does that.
"Obviously I'm very satisfied with that," said Minister Kelly.
