Richard Bruton rejects claim Government wasted Web Summit trade chances
The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has denied claims Ireland has squandered the networking opportunities from the Web Summit.
He said the state's agencies tended to work on a more low-profile basis to build leads and encourage investment.
The event's organiser Paddy Cosgrave previously accused the state of not doing enough to generate new business from the summit.
But questioned in the Dáil this morning, Richard Bruton did not accept those claims, saying: "I completely reject the suggestion that Enterprise Ireland or the IDA have not used the Web Summit effectively.
"We work confidentially to develop programmes, not in the blaze of publicity."
