Gardaí have arrested a man suspected of robbery after ordering him out of a taxi in Dublin, it has emerged.

Gardaí have arrested a man suspected of robbery after ordering him out of a taxi in Dublin, it has emerged.

At approximately 5.30pm yesterday evening, a man entered a premises in Artane, Dublin 9, threatened staff with a screwdriver and demanded cash.

He left on foot and was observed by Gardaí, who were responding to a call, getting into a taxi.

The taxi was stopped and a 31-year-old man was arrested. A screwdriver and a sum of cash were recovered.

He was taken to Coolock Garda station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. No one was injured in the incident.

He was charged yesterday evening and will appear before Ct No. 2 CCJ, Parkgate St at 10.30am this morning.
