Man dies in Mayo road accident

A man died in a road accident in Ballina, Co Mayo yesterday evening.
The single-vehicle collision happened at Carrowntreila, Ballina at approximately 6.30pm.
The 20-year-old male driver was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a tree on the old Ballina to Foxford road, around two miles outside Ballina.
He was the sole occupant of the car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to the Mortuary at Castlebar Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place later today.
The road is currently closed, Garda Forensic Collision investigators will examine the scene this morning and local diversions are in place.
