John Perry looks to be ruled out of Fine Gael's election ticket
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny appears to have ruled out adding a former Junior Minister to Fine Gael's election ticket.
John Perry, who was demoted from his Junior Ministry last year, failed to get nominated in the Fine Gael convention in Sligo-Leitrim on Friday evening.
It is reported that Enda Kenny has previously told all of his TDs they would have the right to run and defend their seats.
But the Taoiseach said that might not be possible in John Perry's case, as the party has now already chosen two candidates
“Well constituencies have changed and obviously, conventions are run by their party and delegates vote and they make their own choices in accordance with directions given by the executive council of Fine Gael,” Mr Kenny said.
“It was a very closely fought convention, obviously Fine Gael reflect on all these things before they finalise all the tickets in every constituency.”
