A woman has died after being hit by a car in Dublin today.

The pedestrian, aged in her early 70s, was fatally injured when she was struck by a vehicle at the junction of Howth Road and Collins Avenue in Clontarf at about 12.30pm this afternoon.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators have carried out an examination of the scene.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 6664300.
