Star Wars producers (quietly) donate €10,000 to Valentia Lifeboat

The producers of Star Wars have donated €10,000 to the Valentia Lifeboat.

Crew from the Hollywood blockbuster (pictured below) filmed scenes from the latest movie on nearby Skellig Michael three weeks ago for a second time.

Local newspaper Kerry's Eye reports that producers contacted crew members directing them to make the donation to the Valentia Lifeboat just before filming finished up.

Operations manager Richard Foran told the paper it was a complete surprise and the filmmakers wanted the donation to be low-key, declining an offer of a photoshoot.
