'No effort spared' in tackling paramilitary crime says Justice Minister Fitzgerald

The Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said no effort will be spared when it comes to tackling paramilitary crime.

Ms Fitzgerald was speaking at an annual cross-border seminar on organised crime in Sligo.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Minister Fitzgerald said she has asked the Garda Commissioner Noirin O'Sullivan for an up to date assessment of the situation.

“No effort will be spared in terms of both north and south, interrupting that activity and dealing with it, Minister Fitzgerald said.

“Clearly the assessment that I have to date reflects the independent monitoring commission, as I have repeatedly said, but I have asked the commissioner for an up to date assessment.”
