There were 22 fewer murders recorded in Ireland in the 12 months before June 2015 compared to the same period last year, official figures have shown.

There were 22 fewer murders recorded in Ireland in the 12 months before June 2015 compared to the same period last year, official figures have shown.

Central Statistics Office numbers released today also showed that the number of robbery, extortion and hijacking offences recorded fell by 8.9% over the same period, down from 2,830 to 2,578.
