Result of teaching unions ballot on junior cycle reform due tomorrow

The results of a ballot by the main teaching unions on the proposed reform of the junior cycle are due to be released tomorrow.
Today is the final day for members of the ASTI and the TUI to submit their votes on the compromise solution agreed with the Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan in May.
Under the plan, teachers would not assess their own students for State exams.
However, they would carry out classroom-based assessment focusing on skills like oral communication and problem solving.
O'Sullivan is due to comment on the outcome at annual conference of the Education Training Boards of Ireland tomorrow.
