A man in his 30s has been charged with three offences after allegedly shining a laser at a police helicopter in Antrim.

A man in his 30s has been charged with three offences after allegedly shining a laser at a police helicopter in Antrim.

The 35-year-old has been charged with endangering the safety of an aircraft, shining a light to dazzle or distract a pilot and possession of a class B controlled drug.

The crew of the helicopter were able to direct officers on the ground to an address in Greenisland where the suspect was arrested.

A small quantity of cannabis was found during a search of the property.

He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court next month.
