Siptu: Firefighters have voted in favour of industrial action over staff shortage

The Government is being warned that a shortage of firefighters in Dublin is putting lives at risk.

Members of the fire brigade joined a march on O'Connell street earlier to mark national emergency services day.

However, union Siptu says there is an unacceptable level of risk due to severe understaffing in the force and their members have voted for industrial action - up to and including a strike.

The union says at least 70 new staff are needed.
