Extradition hearing today for fugitive sex-offender arrested in Dublin minutes before flight took off

An extradition hearing is due to take place today for a fugitive sex-offender arrested at Dublin Airport on Monday night.

Pakistani national Mian Shahid has been convicted of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman in England.

He appeared before the High Court in Dublin yesterday after he was arrested on Monday night on board an Emirates flight which was moments from taking off to Dubai.

Shahid (pictured) is wanted in Britain, where Stafford Crown Court convicted him in April of sexual assault and sentenced him to 30 months in prison.
