Gardaí 'very concerned' for Wicklow man missing for more than six weeks

Gardaí are "very concerned" for the wellbeing of a missing 39-year-old man from Wicklow town.

Father-of-one Barry Corcoran was last seen in Ballyfermot, West Dublin, on July 6 and has not contacted his family since his disappearance.

Investigating officers have said it is "very out of character" for him.

Superintendent Brendan Connolly said: "I share the family’s concerns, as it is completely out of character for Barry to go missing in this fashion.

"I have established an investigation team at Ballyfermot Garda Station and they are liaising closely with Gardaí in Wicklow in the course of this investigation.

"Gardaí have carried out extensive investigations since Barry was reported missing. As a result of these investigations we have significant concerns regarding his welfare and safety and I would urge anybody with information to contact us here in Ballyfermot Garda Station at 01-6667200."

Mr Corcoran was last seen on the Cremona Road in Ballyfermot, where he was meeting friends, on the night of Monday, July 6.

He had travelled there from his home in Wicklow town via Dublin city centre and the Kylemore Road.

He is described as being five foot 11 inches tall; of slim build; with short grey hair, blue eyes and an old scar on his nose.

A family liaison officer has been appointed and Gardaí have carried out searches after a number of calls and contacts.

When last seen he was wearing a dark rain jacket, blue jeans and black Puma runners.

Anyone with information is asked to call Ballyfermot Garda Station or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 1800 25 00 25.
