Man dies, another injured, after car strikes wall in Mayo

A man has died after the car he was driving struck a wall in Co Mayo.

The 19-year-old man was seriously injured in the single-vehicle accident at around 10.30pm last night on the N84 at Carrowmore, near Ballinrobe.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A passenger in the car, a man in his late teens, was taken by ambulance to Mayo General Hospital.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
