Gardaí investigate as young detainee attacked in Oberstown detention centre

One young person had to be treated in hospital after an incident with another detainee at the Oberstown detention centre in Dublin last night.

A number of staff who were involved in managing the incident also received medical attention as a result.

All of those who required medical attention have since been released from hospital.

Management at the Detention Centre have confirmed that the incident has been referred to the Gardaí for investigation.

They have also begun arranging support services for detainees and staff following the incident.
