Three nurses at the Áras Attracta home in Co Mayo have been taken off duty with pay by the HSE.

In a statement, the HSE said it has taken the action as a protective measure for both the residents and the staff members concerned - pending the results of their investigation into alleged abuse at the facility.

One care assistant has also been placed under increased supervision while on duty.

The HSE said it wants to reassure families and residents at Áras Attracta that plans are in place to ensure there is no disruption to services.

The home for the intellectually disabled in Swinford, Co Mayo, was the subject of secret filming by RTÉ current affairs show Prime Time.
